The 2014 World Soccer tournament did not take up all of the project’s actions, but the majority of them were fully implemented. The Major Sports Events and Childhood Project sought to leave a positive legacy for children during the Soccer tournament, and to collect experiences and best practices that could influence other host countries, or even Brazil itself, for future events.
Brazil is a festive country which hosts major international business and sports events. The nature of these events poses hazards to children and adolescents. One of Childhood Brasil’s key strategies is to ensure the protection of childhood and adolescence by foreseeing potential risks and reducing the chances of vulnerability.
Following is a summary of the project’s achievements. Some actions are still in progress and their results will be made available upon completion.
